For master students, we offer the introductory course IEE1820 - Lab-on-a-Chip, which is an overview of the basics of the field, focused on practical applications. The course is a must for anyone planning on writing their thesis in a Lab-on-a-Chip related subject. We offer several lectures that cover the essential theoretical background, the basics of fabrication including rapid prototyping, simulations, electronic biosensors in LoC, as well as the state of the art in research and commercial applications. The practical part of the course covers experimenting with fluid mechanics, electronic biosensors in LoC, as well as chip fabrication. A complete rapid prototyping workflow will be covered in the labs, including CAD, finite element modelling as well as relevant calculations, which are useful skills not only in the field of LoC but in engineering in general.
